long overdue

I haven't blogged in almost two months because life has been a bit busy. Can't believe it's been almost three weeks since the wedding! Insane.

The wedding went really well. Flew by way too quick. Andy and I both really only remember the ceremony (which was the best part :D) and then it felt like we just took pictures/were ordered around to do things like cutting the cake, thanking people, dancing, eating, you name it. Celebrations has it down to a science which was good & ran incredibly well but just seemed so rushed. Barely ate my food, didn't see the ice sculpture or appetizers at all, none of the stations, feels like I actually came late to my own wedding!

The only bad thing about the whole day was that the judge messed up the last name... Huntington. Ned, my sister's date, caught a perfect picture of our reactions right after the judge said it. The picture is pricelessly funny. At the moment, not so funny.

So all in all, the judge would get the only THORN out of the whole wedding. He deserves the thorn more so because he assured us he'd stay since family of his was invited to the wedding (small world when you're Italian!) so I personally paid for his meal and then he left... probably out of embarrassment that he mispronounced Hunting.

Celebrations and the bridal party and everyone else that helped make it a beautiful day gets ROSES. I'll have to post pics whenever I get mine from the photographer... hopefully soon.

The honeymoon was great. We had perfect weather. The ocean was pretty wavy and too dangerous for swimming so that kind of sucked... but we just stayed in the pool anyway. The resort was surprisingly not full... they said that it's their down season & since it was a 5 star resort chain, I guess I'll believe them. Still fun though because we got extra attention then from the staff. The food was excellent and 0ne of their restaurants was on the beach, all windows, overlooking the ocean. The sunset would set on the ocean and it was just spectatingly beautiful and romantic to eat dinner at that restaurant, not to mention, the best food too! We did a couples massage which was so nice and worth it. Andy and I will now do that every 6 months like clockwork ;) Also, we did a dune buggy tour that was like 3.5-4hrs long. It was pretty dangerous (Andy drove a dune buggy on the highway following our guide right next to normal cars for miles...) but it was so much fun. We saw Mexico how you wouldn't normally see it since we went through small villages, farmland, and rivers. We got so muddy, dirty, and wet but it was worth it. Can't wait to get that waterproof disposable camera I bought developed! Should be interesting photos, especially through the rivers!

I would definitely recommend the Palace Resorts chain in Mexico. Don't know if I'd go back to Puerto Vallarta though, but that's strictly on the fact that I'd like to be able to see Mexico... none of the ruins were in close proximity and the majority of the tours seemed to be a far distance away too (didn't want to waste our time in a smelly van/bus!) Honeymoon, you get a ROSE.

And as for reality... work gets a bushel of thorns... per usual. Just heard through the grapevine that they hired someone for that other job I've been doing without compensation for, oh, a year, so that is bittersweet. I turned it down because they said it would be a demotion for me... even though it's clearly not... but atleast it will alleviate some of the RIDICULOUS bullshit that I have to put up with here at work. But then it means I will most likely have to train this woman and explain everything for probably weeks. Whatever, I just need to focus on getting a new job/plan to get my ass out of this place. They treat their employees like crap and I cannot wait to have a good full-time work experience under my belt. And to have employers that do not backstab and disregard everything/everyone except for what helps them keep their jobs.

Enough venting and I guess now I should go back to work and apply for a new job! Wish me luck.

Adios amigos.

quick life update

so I want to make this a shorty. here goes:

ROSES to all my bridesmaids and mom for putting on such a lovely bridal shower yesterday :) also, ROSES to all my friends and family members that came! my boss even came with her daughter. it was cute. waaaaaayyyy too hot (in fact, the sun gets a bushel of thorns) but still enjoyable. Andy and I took with us a full carload and left about half still at mom's... we put away everything but I have no clue where we will put everything else. we'll just have to Tim Gunn it and "make it work!" (speaking of which, PR returns this week!)

ROSES to almost being done with all the wedding planning. i.cannot.wait.for.this.to.be.over. I'm pretty sure if I was offered a ridiculous salary to be a wedding planner, even like a million dollars per year I would not take it, especially since I'd be dealing with other people's crap and bitchiness. soooo close to being finished!

and it's taking me too long to think up anything to for thorns so it must be a good day!

sionara!

just a lazy sunday sort of day

so i'm in a way better mood (thankfully) than last time i blogged.

so, first off: THORNS to living the married life because i realized i gained double the amount of laundry until death do us part... and if children are added into that... even more! not cool!

another thing i realized today is that i'm gaining a permanent shopping partner for the rest of my life. ROSES to Andy for loving and even asking to go shopping :)

and as for some of my problems this week, MAJOR THORNS to my father being a bridezilla and making demands, and actually having the audacity to say that this wedding is not my wedding but his... where's the logic in that statement? Andy and I are paying about $4-5,000 more than he is and my mother for that matter as well, yet they're calling all the shots (even the ones they're not paying for!). I really wish we could call it off and elope but it is too far in to do that now. I think I'd be completely fine if I never talk to my father again either because he's making the supposed "happiest day of our lives" completely and utterably miserable. i'm pretty sure there won't be a father-daughter dance because i can't imagine putting on such a facade in front of that many people for the lenght of even the shortest appropriate song. come to think of it, dad gets a thorn bush.

lastly, ROSES to our new flat screen tv purchase. at first, i was wary about it and thought it was too much and that our previous tv worked fine. the picture is a lot clearer and it's not as bulky (obviously). i did, however, lose the spot on top of the tv where I had a few picture frames :(

and the washer just went off. time for more laundry!

ciao bellas.

in a bit better state of mind now...

this is going to be quick.

THORNS to those who can't talk out their problems and just prefer to pretend they don't exist.

THORNS to the makers of ortho tri cyclen lo and causing one of my best friends to hemorrhage, seize, be in the hospital for about 2 weeks, and require at least a month of occupational therapy, more likely a lot more than that.

ROSES to receiving response cards back in the mail. love checking it and having mail other than bills! so far, a lot of people are responding yes and not so many no... may be a problem! but i'll worry about that when it comes to that.

ROSES to the following websites for being aaaaaamazing: sweet romance and perfect details. great for wedding jewelry and just if you like antique/very pretty things!

ROSES to Colby, my skinny kit cat, for being an athlete cat and making me laugh. his newest thing is to jump up on the divider between the shower and the sink in the bathroom and just perch there. It's seriously a 5 foot jump from the sink to do that. power to you, cat.

and that is all.

dream it all away

title says all i need to say. i want to dream away my life right now.

review of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

ok, to say I was disappointed is a bit of an understatement and it pains me to even say that! I've been looking forward to this movie for so long.

here is what I've found to not be so good about the movie:
  • very loosely based off of the book - in comparison to all the other movies, they stuck to the plotline in the books. this one, however, did not include key information that feeds into the 7th book/movies. also, they removed the only fight scene in the book, the one at the end with all the action and shock of the plot.
  • the ginny/harry romance - now, i love me some harry & ginny love, however, it was tacky the way they did it. ginny is dating dean and then all of a sudden likes harry? when did she break up with dean? also, they start snogging and being together for the majority of the movie, which is again, not like the book. they incorporate ginny into many scenes that she wasn't involved with in the book.
  • fight scene at the burrow - now, I just reread the book so I know for sure that this was all made up and doesn't exist. why add a fight scene that isn't key to the plot/ending of the story and remove the one that was written??? just doesn't make sense to me.
  • harry & dumbledore's relationship change - now this is key in the book, because it changes. harry goes from being viewed as a student to more of dumbledore's equal. the movie did show this a bit, but left out so many conversations and information that I viewed crucial in the book. with the way it was done in this movie, I don't know how they're going to do the seventh one.
  • the funeral scene - in case someone actually does read my blog, I don't want to give a spoiler, but the final chapters in the book are about a funeral for a key character that dies. in the movie, there is no funeral. this is also key because it's the scene that harry tells ginny that he can no longer date her because he's concerned about her wellbeing. in the book, it's moving and thoughtful and just portrays the visual image of mourning his true love and his idol. completely cut from the movie.
  • horace slughorn's character - now this is just not casted well (according to what I saw from JK Rowling's description). he's suppose to be fat and resemble a walrus. this dude that plays slughorn was not at all what I envisioned and he kept making a weird face with his eye... almost like popeye. just strange.
I'll have to say though, that if I didn't read the book, I would have loved it. It was interesting and well done. All of my problems with the movie somehow were differences in the book to the screen. I liked that it was witty and it brought more comedic relief to the screen than the previous movies. I think that was good because this book is a pretty dark & depressing book between the fight between Ron and Hermione, Draco's shady character, the adventures of Harry and Dumbledore, the memories of Voldemort and the death of the main character.

If I were to be a true movie critic and were to give it a grade: low B

and thorns to you, David Yates! stick to book 7 PLEEEEEASE

beating the system!

i figured out a way to update my blog from work. suh-weeeet.

#974597 things I love: sticking it to the man!

so I decided I'm going to do a new thing every time I post. Roses to things I like and thorns to things that suck. got it?

well, i went home this weekend to dog sit the world's worst dog. mr. puggles was so bad for me! he only wanted to eat peacock shit. ate like 5 piles of it. would search out the peacock shit like deliberately because i was telling him not to eat it. and then he kept getting out of his gates. he only wanted to sleep on my back on friday night and then decided it was puppy play time at 6AM. on saturday, we were out by the pool and he thought it'd be cool to run around on the garage rooftop, you know, possibly drop like 20 feet to his death. not cool, dog. THORNS to mr. puggles. THORNS.

and for my roses, it will have to be time with old friends that i never get to see anymore. over the weekend i hung out with emily and andrew by the pool and then went to see the proposal. the movie was good but i preferred just chilling with them talking over actually doing something with them. odd, but i missed them. and with my bachelorette coming up, i'll get to see more old friends. that should be so much fun. ROSES to friends :D

another thing that gets roses, is HARRY POTTER tomorrow. I cannot wait. currently, it is 39 hours and 27 minutes away. and eddie stroma, the guy playing cormac mclaggen... he gets a whole bouquet of roses himself because he's such a hottie. please see for yourself.normally i don't agree with perez hilton's drawings on pictures, but for once he draws the truth. for reals. ROSES all around to HP and the HBP!

now enough with flowers. i'm going to list what's new in my life.

  1. got a cute new addition to the family - Colby the skinny kitty! he's four years old and just so cute. Thomas and him get along great (thank God)
  2. most of the wedding plans are finished. just working on invitations, the program, and booking that honeymoon! vacation time was approved so two weeks off! woot! (ok, I lied, I'm not done with flowers. vacation time... that gets a rose!)
  3. wedding dress fitting tomorrow night. i have my shoes, purse, and possible jewelry. now to just figure out my hair. maybe i should do it myself in a sort of style to get the gist of what to expect. hmmm.
and yeah, now i think i should go back to work and actually do something i'm suppose to : /

::womp womp womp::
